VIRGIN DAIQUIRIS + INFINITY POOLS

June 24, 2019

Hi!!!

THIS WEEK! We saw so many manifestations of God's love for us this week! Starting Tuesday night when S. Cutright was prompted to turn around + go knock on a door on our way home for the night. Turns out the mans door we knocked on is the manager for a super fancy resort + he invited us for a free lunch the next day! The next day we showed up for lunch + our friend, Vionel, gave us a tour of the entire resort, had us meet allll of his employees (+ invite them to church), + then treated us to a super fancy lunch of virgin daiquiris, fish, + salad. THEN when we were done eating he took us to "The Hospitality Suite" with his assistant + said "Now let's talk about Jesus." We had an awesome little introduction lesson with him + he invited us back! We've discovered that teaching managers of resorts is the way to go ;)

These cutie caribbeans have taught me SO much about sacrifice + faith. We visited our sweet member friend, Sister Meda, this week. She's from Haiti + has one of the most incredible testimonies. Her husband + her only daughter have passed away, her home is not livable right now so she sleeps at friends homes, and she walks to church when she doesn't have the money to go. SHE'S AMAZING!

I'm not sure why all of our cool experiences start with food, but we ate at a new little restaurant since we were visiting friends in the area + our sweet tooth convinced us to go to the gas station next door to get a chocolate bar (diet is not going too well lately hahaha). BUT we found out that the man working at the gas station is a long lost member from Haiti! It's so cool seeing how Heavenly Father really just places us right where we need to be.

In an attempt to eat healthy this week we bought an ENTIRE box of bananas because they were on sale for $10. We probably have over 50 bananas in our fridge right now.

Our rich landlord who owns half the island invited us over to her house + it was just about the fanciest house I have ever been in. We were oohing and awhing over her infinity pool that overlooks the ocean, her outdoor kitchen, + the jacuzzi in her bedroom that sprays water from the ceiling. Rich people, man. Also, any takers for people who want to come back to Turks with me?? She offered us a free stay in her rental home right next door to her house :))

This week I really have learned what repentance is! Repentance means CHANGE. It's a change in the way we do things. It's not an event, but a process that takes daily effort to be better than the previous day. We aren't expected to be perfect, just increasingly more pure. I definitely recommend the talk "We can Do Better and Be Better" by our sweet prophet, President Nelson.

Xoxo,

1. Feeling like a proud mom because our recent convert Lumarvens volunteered to give a talk in church + it was INCREDIBLE.
2. BANANAS
