Hello!
Our landlord decided to redo our entire house this week so our lives were turned upside down, BUT now our house actually looks like a home instead of a hoarder's house (our house has been used for missionaries since 2008). It's freshly painted, completely redecorated, + smelling a thousand times better than before. I'm sure Salvation Army is regretting letting us drop 5 bags full of junk off with them!
One really incredible lesson this week was with our good friend Uncele! He's haitian and speaks just enough english for us to teach him. He's amazing! Every lesson with him gets better and better. We taught him about the Plan of Salvation this week + after we explained the Celestial, Terrestrial, and Telestial kingdoms he said, "Right now I'm in the Telestial kingdom, but I need to work hard so I can be in the Celestial kingdom." AHH that's the best thing EVER to hear as a missionary! We were so dang happy. He's on date to be baptized on July 27th so we are hoping + praying everything works out for that date.
We met a really awesome guy named Kiman a few weeks ago + finally set up an appointment with him. We had our first lesson yesterday + he's AMAZING! He said that he's been praying for enlightenment in his life + then we showed up! I love when cool things like that happen! Heavenly Father is SO aware of each one of His children + will answer every sincere prayer.
A few other fun things this week!
-We almost got attacked by wild ferocious dogs leaving an appointment. Luckily our good pal, Woodlin, saved us.
-The A/C in our car is still broken + the days just keep getting hotter. Woo!
-We tried the famous Sweet Tse for the first + last time. It's basically the equivalent of McDonald's.
-Sister Jean taught us how to cook rice + sardines...not my favorite meal, but we had so much fun!!
I was reading in 2 Nephi 28 this week + learned some really cool things! Part of this chapter reveals 3 of Satan's most common tactics. Stirring people up to anger, pacifying, + pride. Satan often gets people all riled up about unnecessary things which weakens faith + causes people to fall away. He also convinces people that everything is fine, that there's no need to worry about being obedient right now, we can worry about everything later. Satan gets us so caught up in pride + thinking that we're great on our own + we don't need God's help. These are all so dangerous! We can avoid these temptations though as we build upon the rock of Jesus Christ. The scriptures are so good + they give us the entire cheat sheet for life!!
Stay strong in the church! It's the ONLY way back to live with our Father in Heaven. He LOVES you + NEEDS you! <3
