Hello!
Some weeks are just better than others + this was a GOOD one! We had another incredible lesson with Akheem. We have been praying that he will truly pray to know if these things are true. Usually people here just say they believe + it's so hard to get people to actually PRAY to receive that witness for themselves. We were having a great lesson when all the sudden two ladies came walking up + one of them was a member! Her name is Alicia + she just got back to Jamaica after being in Canada for a long time. She just came + joined our lesson. She shared her conversion story with us + THE most powerful testimony of how she came to know this church was true. Akheem started to tear up (28 yr old males don't do that often). Wowza that lesson was a good one, all thanks to the Spirit. It finally hit Akheem that he NEEDED to pray to receive a witness himself. It's SO cool how God works through His faithful children! MIRACLES!
We have been challenged to go reteach all of the members the lessons to rekindle their testimonies! There are over 300 members in our branch + only 20-40 come each week. YIKES. We have seen sooo many miracles from this though! We had 3 members come this week that haven't come in years!
I've learned so dang much about agency lately. Heavenly Father seriously trusts + loves us. We have met with so many members who know that the church is true but are doing nothing about it. It's easy to know things + much, much harder to ACT on those things. I read a quote from GC talk this week that said, "Man's earthly existence is but a test as to whether he will concentrate his efforts, his mind, his soul, upon things which contribute to the comfort + gratification of his physical nature, or whether he will make as his life's purpose the acquisition of spiritual qualities." Our purpose here in this life is to acquire spiritual qualities, to focus on those things that will make a difference ETERNALLY. This concept is really hard living in a very temporal, physical world. BUT we have the gospel of Jesus Christ, along with so many other tools to help us along the way. Choose to focus more time on things of an eternal nature than temporal.
I literally LOVE this country so much. This gospel is true! If you don't know that for yourself, ASK OF GOD. He NEEDS you to know these things + is more than willing to reveal the truth to you. Don't forget how loved you are! Let me know if you need anything <3
